Greenlight for Snowtown 2
The second stage of the Snowtown Wind Farm in SA is set for development following a supply deal between NZ developer Trust Power and energy giant Origin.
Under the agreement, Origin had agreed to take 100 percent of the wndfarm’s output for 15 years.
Origin already takes almost 90 percent of the power generated by the existing Snowtown wind farm, which has a capacity of 100 megawatts. The $200 million farm was commissioned in 2008.
Snowtown stage two will be almost three times bigger with a capacity of 270 megawatts from 90 turbines.
Construction work is expected to begin later this year.
