A new $18 million biorefinery in the Queensland city of Bundaberg will generate around 30 full time jobs in the region.
US-baed Utilitas has announced the project, which will be supported by the Queensland Government’s Biofutures program.
Utilitas plans to convert waste water from the Bundaberg Rum Distillery into biocrude and also electricity.
The project will “re-purpose” the soon to be retired Bundaberg Easte Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Add on products could incluce bioplastics for the horticultural indsutry.
