A proposed community solar farm for the Bega Valley on the south coast of New South Wales, is being looked at by the local council.

Clean Energy for Eternity (CEFE) has put forward the solar farm proposal for construction at the Tathra Sewage Treatment Plant, in the town of Tathra.

Under the proposal, the CEFE will donate $15,000 per year for the project’s development, until its completion. The group anticipates the project would be completed within three years.

The proposal also looks to include an additional contribution from the council’s allocated budget to the water sewerage services. Energy produced by the solar farm would assist the council by significantly reducing energy consumption at the site.

The community-based solar farm would be constructed with solar panels placed to spell the word “Imagine” when being viewed from the air.

CEFE secretary Prue Kelly told the Bega District News that the group is hoping for a positive response from the council.

“We have very positive vibes and feelings about it,” said Ms Kelly.

“It’s a secure site and is beneficial to the community and council, who are supporters of CEFE,” she added.
