The development of Glen Innes in the NSW Northern Tablelands into a hub of renewable energy has received another boost with State Government approval for the 100MW Metz Solar Farm.
The 100 megawatt Metz solar farm is being developed by Infinenergy Pacific and would be located in Hillgrove, 30 kilometres east of Armidale, covering an area of 300 hectares.
Comprising 400,000 solar panels, Metz would generate enough energy to power half of the New England region, or around 10 percent of the State’s solar energy.
Mez Solar represents an investment of around $130 milion. It would save 225,000 tonnes of CO2 each year, negating an estimated 1.125 million kilometres of vehicle travel.
