Granite Hills wind farm…..another 120MW of capacity

Developers of the Granite Hills Wind Farm proposed for the Bega district in southern NSW are calling for members of the community to serve on a consultative committee.

French firm Akuo Energy and Australian company Willy Willy are developing a 35 turbine project with a capacity of 120MW at a site called Steeple Flat, 12 kilometres south-east of Nimmitabel, at the top of Brown Mountain.

The project does not have unanimous support, with some community members concerned about its location and its impact on wildlife.

Construction is expected to commence in 2018, with a completion date towards the end of 2019.
