Hydro Tasmania’s consulting firm Entura has been appointed as engineer for two solar farms in Queensland under development by Canadian Solar .
Entura will work on Canadian Solar’s 17MW Longreach and 30MW Oakey projects, both of which have beeen funded by the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA).
With a 20-year Queensland government-backed Contract for Difference in place, both of the projects are expected to start construction in May 2017 and begin commercial in the first quarter of 2018
Entura’s role will be to review the design, documentation, calculations and reports produced by the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor to ensure they are fit for purpose and in accordance with Australian standards and regulations.
Entura was spun off from Hydro in 2010, and became a joint venture between Hydro Tasmania and PowerChina in 2015.
Entura is an anagram of “nature,” and the firm has partnered with clients in Australia and the Asia-Pacific on renewable projects.
